One was labelled “Legal stuff.” Inside the crates, Anderson found not documents but six assault rifles; two shotguns; fourteen handguns; body armor; a 37-mm. launcher that could fire tear gas, flares, or smoke cannisters; and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Friedmann, as a convicted felon, wasn’t allowed to have any of it. Federal prosecutors indicted him on firearms charges. That case was being litigated simultaneously with the state’s vandalism case.
